— WHAT WE DO

we can access everything.
we bring you only what fits.

Bala provides natural stone specification advice and sourcing for architecture projects. We have no stock to push and no factory to fill: first we choose the stone that best solves your project; then we find who supplies it and who works it, and we manage it all the way to site.

material scout

Projects at specification stage

We find the material the project calls for and hand it over filtered: two or three options that meet the technical, aesthetic and budget brief, not forty samples.

→ search and technical recommendation
→ comparable alternatives
→ direct contacts
→ final dossier
— 02

material sourcing pro

Developers and contractors

We compare, request samples, negotiate with quarry and factory and define how and when to buy. The most complete service before construction.

→ technical and cost comparison
→ sample coordination
→ negotiation with manufacturers
→ purchasing strategy

procurement management

Full supply through to site

We become your external purchasing department: orders, production, quality control, logistics and issues, with a single point of contact.

→ order and lead-time management
→ quality control at the factory
→ logistics to site
→ support and issue handling

— what we prevent
getting the stone wrong does not show in the budget.
it shows on site.
a stone unsuited to its use
a soft polish on a kitchen worktop, a porous limestone on a façade with frost.
a quarry that cannot deliver
blocks that run out mid-supply or missed lead times.
a workshop without capacity
formats, thicknesses or quantities it cannot produce in time.
a change of tone between batches
the second delivery that does not match the first.
a piece that cannot be made
layouts that do not fit the chosen slab.

Anticipating it, before it reaches site, is our job.

Casa Camaleón: sandblasted Rojo Alicante façade after almost ten years
— why natural stone
stone does not age.
it matures.

Isaac Peral’s Casa Camaleón in Pinoso is almost ten years old and does not look it. Its Rojo Alicante has settled with sun, rain and use, without deteriorating. That is what sets a noble material apart: it gains character over the years instead of losing it. No material that imitates stone does that.

character
Every block is unique. No piece repeats, and the project shows it.
durability
Centuries, not decades. In Verona people still walk on fifteenth-century marble steps.
natural and local
A natural material, with treatments and finishes suited to each use and, where possible, from a nearby quarry: a smaller footprint.

what we are asked most.

What exactly does Bala Material Studio do?

We advise on natural stone specification and sourcing for architecture projects. First we choose the stone that best solves the project; then we find who supplies it and who works it, and we manage it all the way to site.

Who do you work with?

With professionals: architecture practices, interior designers and designers, contractors, developers and renovation companies. If you are a private client, the best route is for your architect or contractor to get in touch with us.

Do you have your own stock or warehouse?

No. We have no stock to shift and no factory to keep busy. That is why we can recommend the right stone for each project, not whatever is available.

When is the best time to get in touch?

The earlier, the better: at specification stage we can propose two or three options that work technically, aesthetically and on budget. If the project is already on site, we also step in for supply and follow-up.

How is the slab chosen?

With real samples and photos of the actual lot, not catalogue images: colour and veining change from slab to slab. When the project calls for it, we choose it in person at the factory, or the block at the quarry.

How do you ensure the traceability of the stone?

We know where each piece comes from and who has worked it: the source quarry or factory, the lot and the chosen slabs. Each piece is numbered on its workshop order, and we follow it until it is installed.

Which stones do you work with?

Marble, quartzite, limestone, travertine, onyx and sandstone. Our colour chart brings together more than a hundred references by colour, and if what you are looking for is not there, we find it.

Do you handle cutting and fabrication?

Yes. We work with trusted workshops for cut-to-size, worktops, special finishes and one-off pieces, and we follow the material until it is installed.

How much does it cost?

It depends on each project: the stone, the format, the quantities and the level of involvement you need. That is why we do not work with fixed rates: we prepare a specific proposal once we know the project. And you do not have to commission the full supply: we can limit our work to selection and advice.

What lead times do you work with?

They are indicative: from around 20 days, counted from when the material is chosen and confirmed, up to six months or a year on the largest projects. They depend on stone availability, fabrication, transport and the information available: with well-defined drawings, layouts and details, everything moves faster.

Do you work outside Alicante?

Yes. We work mainly in Alicante, Murcia, Albacete and Valencia, and on projects across Spain, Europe and Latin America.

How do we start?

Message us on WhatsApp with the use, the square metres and the deadline, or book a 15-minute technical call. The architect will reply, and that first conversation is a no-obligation way to see whether we are a good fit for the project.

bala material studio exists to bridge the gap between those who make materials and those who turn them into architecture.
