Many architects end up choosing stone from closed catalogues, sales reps with their own stock or workshops tied to their usual suppliers. The stone that reaches the project is not the best one: it is the available one.
Bala exists to change that order. It is architect-to-architect natural stone consulting: first, the stone that best solves the project; then, who supplies it and who works it.
I am Ray Ródenas. Architect by training. Sales director by experience. Material curator by vocation.
I spent a year at Politecnico di Milano studying restoration. That experience changed how I look at materials: they carry memory. Every surface tells where it comes from and how it was made.
For more than a decade I have worked where natural stone, architecture and international business meet. I opened seven markets across Europe and LATAM, working side by side with quarries, craftsmen, architects and developers.
I learned something simple: the distance between an extraordinary material and an extraordinary space is usually a matter of knowledge, trust and coordination. Bala Material Studio exists to close that gap.
I work with architects, interior designers and developers who want access to exceptional natural materials, and someone who understands every layer: technical, aesthetic, commercial and logistical.
